Board of Directors

Mr. Michael Parker

Education and Experience:

Michael Parker is President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited.

Michael has spent the majority of his career in the financial-services industry. His extensive experience spans a mix of financial, marketing and consulting roles with various multinational companies.

Michael joins Manulife Insurance (Thailand) from DirectAsia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. where he was Chief Executive Officer responsible for all business and operations. Working with the company’s Thai management team, he oversees the DirectAsia.com website, Customer Care centre, marketing and broker operations.

Before establishing Direct Asia (Thailand), Michael joined DirectAsia.com Group in 2011 as Chief Development Officer, responsible for country expansion and developing the life insurance products line for the group.

Michael was Chief Marketing Officer at AIA Thailand from 2008 to 2011. In this role, Michael was responsible for new product development and product management as well as branding, communications and marketing programs. During this time, the company launched product innovations in direct marketing, unit linked and annuities, among others. From 2005-2008, Michael was VP Bancassurance, establishing several programs with banks and financing companies.

Michael has a BA from RMIT University, Director’s Certification with the Thai Institute of Directors and the Associate Life Management Institute qualification.


Mr. Gianni Fiacco

Education and Experience:

Located in Hong Kong, Gianni is the Senior Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Asia for Manulife’s Wealth and Asset Management businesses. He oversees the operations and investment technology functions as well as being responsible for the development and implementation of business strategies to deliver on the company’s growth objectives.

Prior to joining Manulife Asset Management (Asia), Gianni served as Regional Controller, Asia for Manulife Financial, where he was accountable for financial and management accounting, planning, forecasting and analysis as well as tax and internal controls related to finance across Asia. Before joining Manulife, Gianni worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in their Audit and Assurance Services group.

Gianni holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a Chartered Accountant (Canada).


Mr. Michael Reed

Education and Experience:

Michael joined Manulife Asset Management (Thailand) in January 2017.

Michael is a seasoned asset management professional, bringing over 20 years of industry experience and a deep knowledge of the region’s asset management landscape.

Most recently, Michael served as Country Head of Fidelity Asset Management (Korea) Limited. Prior to this, he has held senior management positions with leading international asset managers in markets including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Michael obtained a Higher National Diploma in Hotel & Catering Administration from Westminster Hotel School, London, UK and certificate in Financial Planning from the Chartered Insurance Institute in UK.

Michael was Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea, for which he received an MBE in 2016, Director/Trustee of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea and co-Chair of the Capital Markets Committee of American Chamber of Commerce in Korea.



Education and Experience:

Sumetha joined Manulife Asset Management (Thailand) in August 2020.

Sumetha brings over a decade of experience in the finance and asset management industries, with a deep and broad knowledge of the Thai and regional asset management business. Most recently, he served as Deputy CEO & Chief Investment Officer of MFC Asset Management Public Company Limited. Prior to this role, he held several positions at Franklin Templeton Investments from 2010 to 2019, his last role being Country Head for the Thai office of Templeton Asset Management, overseeing Thai equities strategies and portfolio management for Templeton Thailand funds. Prior to joining Templeton, Sumetha worked for Myo Capital Advisers, a Hong Kong based hedge fund, where he specialized in private equity, special situations and distressed debt restructuring for ASEAN markets.

Sumetha holds a master’s degree (M.Phil) in Economics from University of Oxford and bachelor's degrees in Commerce and Engineering with first-class honors from University of Melbourne. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Management (FRM) charter holder.
